This book was one of few books that my school has assigned for me to read that I actually enjoyed. The idea of the story was new and unique and I liked how the things that Hawthorne wrote about back in his time still do apply to now.
The one thing that really made me dread reading the book was Hawthorne's writing style. He tends to write on and on about unimportant and uninteresting details that have nothing to do with the plot of the story. It seems like he used the details just to fill the book. It really made the book hard to read because of how one sentence seemed to turn into a rambling paragraph about nothing. If it hadn't been for that, I probably would have absolutely loved the book.
Overall, I would recommend it to others. Even though Hawthorne's writing style is not very appealing, the plot of this story is worth reading about it.
